Understand the flow rating before choosing

Navien lists 11.2 gallons per minute at a 35°F temperature rise and 8.7 GPM at a 45°F rise. A larger temperature rise means lower available flow.

Temperature rise is the difference between incoming-water temperature and the hot-water temperature required. We also consider showers, faucets and appliances that may run together. A bathroom count alone is not a sizing plan. Tell us when your current system struggles and what you want a replacement to handle.

Plan recirculation around your plumbing

A built-in pump does not make every tap instantly hot. Water still travels between the heater and the fixture. Tell us which rooms have a long wait and whether your home already has a recirculation return line. We’ll review the plumbing layout and controls as part of the proposed installation. Read our guide to waiting for hot water.

What to share for your installation estimate

  • Your address and whether you are replacing a tank or an existing tankless unit.
  • Photos of the current heater’s model label, connections and surrounding space.
  • Available fuel, the heater’s location and any access concerns.
  • Hot-water demands, long waits or changes you want the new system to address.

We review the existing setup, including fuel supply, venting and electrical requirements, before proposing the work. An existing gas connection or vent does not automatically establish compatibility. Mention that you are considering the NPE-240A2, and we can discuss whether it fits your project. Learn about our installation and replacement service.

NPE-240A2 questions

Is the NPE-240A2 the same as the NPE-240A?

No. The NPE-240A is the original advanced model; the NPE-240A2 is the second generation. Share the complete model number when discussing a replacement or existing equipment.

Is this an electric tankless water heater?

No. It uses gas for water heating and also requires electrical power. If your home has an electric tank, we can discuss suitable electric options alongside the work a gas conversion would involve.

Can it supply several showers at once?

That depends on the combined flow and temperature rise required. Tell us which fixtures you expect to use together so we can assess demand before recommending this model.
