A larger natural-gas storage tank with powered exhaust
The Rheem PRO+G75-76N RH PV is a Professional Classic Plus Heavy Duty water heater for natural gas. It combines 73 gallons of rated storage with a 75,100 BTU/h burner and a top-mounted exhaust blower. It is a separate model from Rheem’s similarly named atmospheric 75-gallon tank.
For a home with substantial hot-water demand, WHE considers how stored water and recovery work together during the busiest part of the day. In Palm Beach Gardens, Jupiter and nearby communities, we also check whether the gas supply, electrical connection, vent route and access can accommodate this larger heater.
Verified PRO+G75-76N RH PV specifications
| Nominal capacity / rated storage | 75 gallons / 73 gallons |
|---|---|
| Fuel and burner input | Natural Gas, 75,100 BTU/h |
| Uniform Energy Factor | 0.59 UEF |
| First-hour rating | 110 gallons |
| Recovery at a 100°F temperature rise | 72.8 gallons per hour |
| Electrical requirement in model sheet | 110 VAC connection; see the electrical documentation note below |
| Standard manufacturer warranty listing | Eight-year limited tank and parts warranty, subject to the certificate |
The 110-gallon first-hour rating includes hot water delivered with burner recovery during the test. It is not the amount held in the tank. Rheem specifies the 72.8 GPH recovery at a 100°F temperature rise, which is a different test condition from the 90°F rise commonly shown for smaller tanks. Recovery figures should be compared on the same temperature-rise basis.
WHE reviews overlapping showers, tub capacity and other hot-water use before recommending this model. Actual delivery depends on incoming water temperature, settings and use; the gallon label alone does not establish suitability for a particular household.
Allow for the complete blower assembly
The tank is 60⅛ inches high and 26¼ inches in diameter. Overall height to the top of the power-vent assembly is 71⅞ inches. The blower therefore makes a substantial difference to the required overhead space.
Rheem lists 1-inch water connections on 11-inch centers, a 14½-inch gas-connection height and a 53¼-inch side relief-valve connection height. The series includes side water connections for suitable space-heating applications; any combined application needs a separate design and suitability review. Shipping weight is 330 pounds, before considering the water held during operation.
We check the doorway and handling route, floor or platform suitability, service clearances, water-pipe arrangement, relief discharge and drainage provisions. A tank that fits inside a room may still lack the access needed to install or service it properly.
Natural-gas capacity and electrical power
The model number includes “76,” but Rheem’s exact input rating is 75,100 BTU/h. WHE checks the meter, regulator arrangement, piping and available pressure against this load and the other gas appliances. The drawing’s ½-inch gas connection is not a complete sizing instruction for the supply piping.
The blower, ignition and controls need electrical power, so the heater cannot continue heating during a power outage. Rheem’s exact model sheet describes a 110 VAC connection. The manual currently linked from the product page uses 120 V wording and contains vent tables for smaller models rather than this 75-gallon unit. WHE confirms the required electrical rating, current, grounding and connection method from the supplied heater’s rating plate and applicable instructions before specifying the installation.
The PRO+G75-76P RH PV propane (LP) counterpart has the same listed storage and performance ratings. Fuel selection still matters: the installed factory model must match the site’s gas supply. The manufacturer’s linked instructions warn against converting between natural gas and LP.
Venting and combustion air for the 75-gallon model
This is a power-vent heater that uses indoor combustion air. It is different from a power-direct-vent model with a separate outdoor combustion-air intake. Rheem’s model sheet permits horizontal or vertical exhaust arrangements using the approved PVC, CPVC or ABS vent materials.
The model-specific sheet lists these equivalent-length ranges from sea level through 8,500 feet:
| Vent diameter | Minimum equivalent length | Maximum equivalent length |
|---|---|---|
| 3 inches | 10 feet | 50 feet |
| 4 inches | 10 feet | 100 feet |
Equivalent length includes the effect of fittings; it is not simply the straight-line distance to the exterior. WHE reviews the complete route, material, supports, approved termination, clearances and combustion-air provisions. The model sheet specifies a 90-degree vent terminal arrangement. Any existing vent needs a compatibility and condition review before reuse.
Documentation note: The currently linked AP22511 Rev. 02 manual contains 2- and 3-inch vent tables for lower-input 40- and 50-gallon models. Those tables should not be applied to this 75-gallon heavy-duty model. The ranges above come from the exact 75-gallon specification sheet. WHE obtains the applicable installation instructions for the supplied unit and resolves differences with Rheem before installation, including any condensate-management requirements.
Compare the 75-gallon power vent with other Rheem options
| Model | Venting | Rated storage | First-hour rating | UEF |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| PROG50-42N RH67 PV | Power vent | 48 gallons | 78 gallons | 0.68 |
| PRO+G75-76N RH PV | Power vent | 73 gallons | 110 gallons | 0.59 |
| PRO+G98-76N RH | Atmospheric | 93 gallons | 142 gallons | 0.58 |
The 75-gallon model adds 25 gallons of rated storage and 32 gallons of published first-hour delivery compared with the listed 50-gallon power vent. It also needs a wider footprint, more assembly height and a higher gas input. The 98-gallon atmospheric model offers more storage, but its venting arrangement is different and it is not a direct substitute for a power-vent installation.
WHE’s existing PRO+G75-76N RH atmospheric guide covers the model without the PV suffix. That heater uses a draft hood rather than this powered exhaust assembly. A higher delivery rating or larger nominal size does not automatically make a model the best fit for the home.
Maintenance and eight-year limited coverage
Rheem lists a brass drain valve, an anode rod, sediment-control features and an electronic diagnostic gas control. These features do not remove the need for maintenance. WHE considers blower and vent condition, anode access, sediment, water pressure, thermal expansion and relief-discharge routing during a service or replacement review.
The standard listing is an eight-year limited tank and parts warranty. The linked certificate applies to the original owner, is not transferable, and specifies eight years for installation in a single-family dwelling, with a one-year term for other applications. It excludes labor for service, repairs and reinstallation, among other costs. The “heavy duty” description does not guarantee eight-year coverage in every application.
ProtectionPlus tank-warranty extensions are optional and separate from standard coverage. WHE confirms applicable equipment terms, any separate installation coverage, availability and installed price in the written estimate for the proposed job.

Comparisons use Rheem’s May 2025 standard power-vent sheet and June 2025 heavy-duty atmospheric sheet. The product page’s older 0.57 EF wording is a different metric from the exact model table’s 0.59 UEF. The photo is Rheem’s shared heavy-duty power-vent series image; appearance may vary.
PRO+G75-76N RH PV frequently asked questions
Is this the natural gas version?
Yes. PRO+G75-76N RH PV is the natural gas model. PRO+G75-76P RH PV is the propane (LP) counterpart. Both list 75,100 BTU/h input, but the factory fuel configuration must match the supply.
Does a 110-gallon first-hour rating mean it holds 110 gallons?
No. Rated storage is 73 gallons within the 75-gallon nominal class. The first-hour figure includes burner recovery. Published recovery is 72.8 GPH at a 100°F temperature rise.
Does the power-vent model work without electricity?
It needs electrical power for the blower, ignition and controls, so it cannot continue heating during an outage. The model sheet lists 110 VAC; WHE checks the supplied unit’s electrical rating and applicable instructions because the linked online manual uses different wording.
Can it reuse a 50-gallon power-vent heater’s vent?
Not without review. This 75-gallon model sheet lists 3- and 4-inch vent options with different length limits. WHE verifies the entire vent arrangement against the applicable instructions for the new unit.
Does the eight-year warranty cover installation labor?
The linked Rheem certificate excludes service, repair and reinstallation labor. Tank and parts coverage is also subject to owner and application terms. Optional tank extensions and any separate WHE installation coverage should be identified in the estimate.
