Is the RG275H6N right for your replacement?
This Bradford White is a larger natural gas storage tank for homeowners comparing a 75-gallon replacement. At Water Heating Experts, we start with your hot-water routine: showers used together, large tubs, appliance use and whether the existing heater keeps up.
A larger tank still needs to fit the installation. We review access for removal, the space around the heater, existing water connections, gas supply and venting. If the heater is in an attic or another difficult location, tell us whether you want to assess a move.
Hot-water delivery and gas input
The current model remains RG275H6N. The August 2026 specification lists 75 gallons nominal capacity, 72 gallons DOE rated storage and 0.59 UEF. Nominal size and rated storage are different measures. UEF is a standardized efficiency rating, not a prediction of the gas bill for an individual home.
Bradford White’s current U.S. specification table lists 76,000 BTU/h input, a 135-gallon first-hour rating and 82 gallons per hour recovery at a 90°F temperature rise. These describe different aspects of performance; they do not promise a particular shower count or unlimited hot water.
First-hour rating combines stored hot water and recovery during a standardized first hour. We use it alongside household demand and installation requirements when comparing options. Tell us when hot water runs short and which fixtures are running at the time.
RG275H6N dimensions and connections
- A — floor to flue connection: 62 5/8 inches.
- F — floor to heater top: 59 5/8 inches.
- B — jacket diameter: 26 inches; H — depth: 29 1/4 inches.
- G — floor to water connections: 60 1/16 inches; J — center spacing: 11 inches.
- M — water connections in the model-specific specification: 1-inch NPT.
- C — listed vent size: 4 inches; S — gas connection: 1/2 inch.
- D — floor to T&P connection: 51 7/8 inches; approximate shipping weight: 240 pounds.
Heater-top height is not the full vent-connection height, and jacket diameter is not the total depth. Allow for the pan, fittings and future service access. Shipping weight is not filled operating weight. WHE verifies the supplied fittings before finalizing connection work; the model-specific specification supplies the dimensions above.
Compare the 75 with the 100-gallon RG2100H6N
| Specification | RG275H6N | RG2100H6N |
|---|---|---|
| Nominal / DOE rated storage | 75 / 72 gallons | 100 / 95 gallons |
| Natural gas input | 76,000 BTU/h | 80,000 BTU/h |
| First-hour rating / UEF | 135 gallons / 0.59 | 157 gallons / 0.57 |
| Recovery at a 90°F rise | 82 GPH | 85 GPH |
| Floor to flue connection | 62 5/8 inches | 72 5/16 inches |
| Jacket diameter / depth | 26 / 29 1/4 inches | 28 1/4 / 31 3/4 inches |
The 100-gallon RG2100H6N adds 23 gallons of rated storage and 22 gallons to the first-hour rating, while recovery at the stated rise increases by 3 GPH. Its flue connection is 9 11/16 inches higher, and its jacket and depth are larger. The extra stored reserve may help a concentrated demand, but the larger unit still needs a suitable location.
Atmospheric venting needs the correct installation
The RG275H6N uses atmospheric venting. We assess the existing vent route, combustion-air provisions and gas supply before recommending it. A power-vent heater has different installation requirements, so matching the gallon size is not enough to establish a suitable replacement.
Share a readable model-label photo and wider photos showing the heater, overhead connections and surrounding space. We also check the supplied equipment’s documentation before confirming the installation. Compare gas water heater options or learn about our installation and replacement service.
The listed 4-inch vent size does not establish that every existing 4-inch vent system is suitable. Likewise, the 1/2-inch appliance gas connection is not a supply-line sizing recommendation. WHE checks the proposed input and the property’s other gas appliances as part of the installation review.
What affects the installed price?
The estimate covers the heater and the work required at your home. Access, old-unit removal, piping and shutoff changes, venting, drainage and expansion control can affect that scope. We confirm the proposed equipment and supplier availability before discussing installation scheduling.

Model-specific features
The family includes a protective anode and sediment-control system, but maintenance remains necessary. The current sheet limits its Defender Safety System feature to RG250H6N, its included mixing valve to RG255H6N and its hand-hole cleanout to RG2100H6N. Those features should not be assigned to RG275H6N simply because they appear in shared family literature.
Warranty and care
The RG275H6N is the six-year limited tank warranty version; the current sheet lists a six-year limited component-parts warranty. For qualifying single-family use, the current residential certificate provides those six-year tank and parts terms. Other residential use of this six-year model has one-year terms; nonresidential or commercial use is excluded. Removal, installation and associated repair or replacement costs are excluded, subject to applicable law. The supplied certificate controls. Keep the model and serial number with your installation records and use Bradford White’s warranty center to review the unit’s information.
Follow the manufacturer’s care instructions. For a problem with an existing heater, call 561-602-9062 with the model and symptoms. We’ll discuss the next step, service availability and any applicable charges.

Bradford White RG275H6N questions
Can this replace any 75-gallon gas water heater?
It needs an installation assessment. Energy source, venting, connections, clearances and access can differ even between heaters carrying the same gallon label.
Is RG275H6N a Propane (LP) model?
No. This guide covers the natural gas version. Bradford White identifies the separate Propane (LP) version with an X suffix.
Does this model include the mixing valve shown in the family literature?
The current sheet specifies that included mixing valve for RG255H6N only. We do not list it as included with RG275H6N.
Can it replace a power-vent water heater?
It is not an automatic substitute. WHE must assess the existing installation and appropriate venting before recommending this atmospheric-vent model.
Does booking online reserve an installation appointment?
Online booking starts a free installation estimate. Mention this model; WHE follows up for photos and details, then discusses the proposed work and scheduling.
