Where the Bradford White RG2100H6N fits

The RG2100H6N is the 100-gallon nominal natural gas model in Bradford White’s Atmospheric Vent High Input family. It provides 95 gallons of DOE rated storage and is worth comparing when a home needs more stored hot water than a 75-gallon tank can provide. Its larger body and higher flue connection also make installation access a central part of the decision.

Water Heating Experts starts with the existing heater, the fixtures it serves and the busiest hot-water period. Large tubs, overlapping showers and recirculation use can affect the assessment. If the old heater previously kept up and now runs short, tell us what changed; a service problem and an undersized tank call for different responses.

Storage, first-hour delivery and recovery

The August 2026 U.S. specification lists 100 gallons nominal capacity, 95 gallons DOE rated storage, 80,000 BTU/h input, a 157-gallon first-hour rating and 0.57 UEF. Published recovery is 85 gallons per hour at a 90°F temperature rise. These are separate measures: nominal size is not the tested storage volume, and the first-hour figure includes reheating during the standardized test.

A first-hour rating does not promise an unlimited sequence of showers. Recovery depends on the temperature rise required, while actual demand depends on fixture flow and timing. UEF is a standardized efficiency measure rather than a forecast of your gas bill. WHE uses these figures with the installation details to compare suitable choices.

RG2100H6N compared with the 75-gallon RG275H6N

Current U.S. natural gas specifications, 1108-0826
Specification RG275H6N RG2100H6N
Nominal / DOE rated storage 75 / 72 gallons 100 / 95 gallons
Natural gas input 76,000 BTU/h 80,000 BTU/h
First-hour rating / UEF 135 gallons / 0.59 157 gallons / 0.57
Recovery at a 90°F rise 82 GPH 85 GPH
Floor to flue connection 62 5/8 inches 72 5/16 inches
Jacket diameter / depth 26 / 29 1/4 inches 28 1/4 / 31 3/4 inches

Moving from the 75 to the 100 adds 23 gallons of rated storage, while published recovery increases by only 3 gallons per hour at the stated rise. That makes stored reserve a major part of the difference. The 100 also has a wider jacket and a flue connection 9 11/16 inches higher. Neither model is automatically the better fit for every home.

Dimensions and connection planning

  • A — floor to flue connection: 72 5/16 inches.
  • F — floor to top of heater: 65 5/16 inches.
  • B — jacket diameter: 28 1/4 inches; H — depth: 31 3/4 inches.
  • G — floor to water connections: 66 1/2 inches; J — connection center spacing: 16 inches.
  • M — water connections in the model-specific specification: 1 1/4-inch NPT.
  • C — listed vent size: 4 inches; S — gas connection: 1/2 inch.
  • D — floor to T&P connection: 59 5/16 inches.
  • Approximate shipping weight: 413 pounds, not the filled operating weight.

Measure the doorway and removal route as well as the final location. The listed depth exceeds the jacket diameter, and the flue connection is above the tank top. Allow for the drain pan, vent arrangement, piping and access to service components. WHE verifies the supplied fittings before finalizing connection work; the model-specific specification is the source for the dimensions above.

Atmospheric venting and natural gas supply

This is an indoor atmospheric-vent heater. The listed 4-inch vent size does not establish that every existing 4-inch vent system is suitable. WHE checks the route, condition, draft arrangement, combustion-air provisions and any commonly vented appliances. A power-vent heater has different requirements, so matching gallon capacity alone does not establish an interchangeable replacement.

The 1/2-inch appliance gas connection is not a gas-line sizing recommendation. The supply must support the proposed input together with the property’s other gas appliances. RG2100H6N is the natural gas version; the manufacturer’s separate propane designation ends in X. Confirm the full model and fuel on the supplied rating plate before installation.

Features that distinguish the 100-gallon model

Bradford White identifies a hand-hole cleanout for RG2100H6N, providing access for tank inspection and sediment removal by a qualified service provider. The family page excludes this model from its pedestal-base feature. These details differ from the smaller member shown in the representative family photograph.

The current sheet describes an ICON gas control that needs no external electricity, with a note that controls may vary by region. A protective anode and sediment-control system support tank care; they do not remove the need for maintenance. The included mixing valve is specified for RG255H6N only, and the Defender Safety System feature is limited to RG250H6N in this sheet. Neither feature is listed here as included with RG2100H6N.

Installation scope, care and warranty

The estimate considers equipment access, supporting surface, piping, shutoffs, drainage, relief discharge and expansion control where the water supply is closed. If an attic location makes service difficult, WHE can assess whether a garage relocation is practical. Keep future cleanout, drain, anode and control access in the plan, not just enough space to place the tank.

The 6 identifies the six-year tank version. For qualifying single-family use, the current residential certificate provides six-year limited tank and component-parts terms. Other residential use of this six-year model has one-year terms; nonresidential or commercial use is excluded. Removal, installation and associated repair or replacement costs are excluded, subject to applicable law. Retain the supplied certificate, model, serial number and installation record.

Bradford White RG2100H6N FAQs

Does RG2100H6N hold 100 gallons of rated storage?

It is a 100-gallon nominal model with 95 gallons of DOE rated storage. Its 157-gallon first-hour rating includes reheating during the test hour.

How much more hot water does it offer than RG275H6N?

The current U.S. table lists 23 more gallons of rated storage and a 22-gallon higher first-hour rating. Recovery at a 90°F rise increases from 82 to 85 GPH. Compare those gains with the larger installation dimensions.

Is this the propane version?

No. RG2100H6N is natural gas. The sheet identifies propane models by changing the final N to X. The supplied heater must match the property’s fuel.

Can it replace a 75-gallon power-vent heater?

It is not a direct substitute based on capacity alone. WHE must review venting, combustion air, gas supply, dimensions and the installation scope before recommending this atmospheric-vent model.

Does online booking reserve the heater?

Booking starts a free installation estimate. Send the model label and site photos; WHE confirms the proposed equipment, availability, work and scheduling afterward.
